Dear Readers: I was pleased to watch "Parenthood", a new series on NBC, on Tuesday nights. I am specifically mentioning this series due to the focus they put in portraying a child with Asperger Syndrome. You can read my other article on this matter in this website. I would like to also note that the series also focuses on the Siblings of children with special needs, and this is a very good aspect and important one when working with families with children with all kinds of disabilities. We often do not address the issues that come with the siblings of children with disabilities, as they do not receive as much attention because they are "typical children". This week's episode clearly showed the need for parents to be aware of all their children's needs, and to make sure they spend enough time with and attend to their needs as well.
