Children who have behavior problems during preschool years may be in the best position to receive intervention early in a way to prevent more severe problems in Elementary School. If teachers, principals, and other educators call parents to talk about their children and concerns they may have, it would be good to examine the situation and to work with the preschool teachers as a team. It is also helpful to receive guidance from the children's pediatrician. Questions to ask are: "Is my child developing according to his/her age?", "Is my child having behavior problems?" "If yes, are they just at school and not at home?" It is helpful for parents to observe their child during the day as many preschools have cameras and observation rooms for parents to watch their children while they are in activities in the preschool classroom (or setting). If parents have any concerns about their children or about the preschool, they should discuss it with the teachers, the principal, and especially with their pediatrician. It may be helpful to seek a consultation with a developmental psychologist, pediatrician, or another professional in the developmental psychology area of health.
