Asperger's Syndrome, Asperger Syndrome or Autism Spectrum Disorders?

Dear Readers: I have been treating and writing about Asperger Syndrome for many years. I am pleased to announce to you that I just published a book about Asperger Syndrome from the point of view of a child who is in Elementary School: "Hello, My  Name is Matt: I have Asperger Syndrome".

I would like to clarify that the scientific and official name for the condition is "Asperger Syndrome", but many people use the expression "Asperger's Syndrome". At this point,  there is some discussion among the experts in the area about the possibility that the term will be eliminated and it will be then part of Autism Spectrum Disorders.

The book I wrote describes the characteristics, the gifts as well as the challenges that children with Asperger Syndrome face in their daily lives. It also suggests treatments, school accommodations, and other interventions. In the end, there is a chapter for parents and for educators about Asperger Syndrome as well as references.

I hope that "Matt's book" is helpful for children with Asperger Syndrome, Autism, and that their families, teachers, and other professionals benefit from reading it. Thank you, Vera Joffe, Ph.D.
